Thanksgiving

This year, for the first time in our married life, we weren't able to spend Thanksgiving with our extended family so I had to make my own Thanksgiving dinner. It actually didn't turn out too bad. I just got a small turkey breast (I didn't think that the five of us could eat a whole turkey). Eric's family always has ham and turkey on Thanksgiving and since my boys like ham better than turkey anyway, we got a little ham too. I made Grandma Peterson's rolls, a fruit salad, and some corn and Eric made mashed potatoes and stuffing. Of course, we had pie for dessert. All in all, it turned out pretty nice.

We even got some turkey for Natalie, but she didn't like it much (I can't blame her).
Her bib says, "My family is thankful for me." Which is true.

Speaking of turkey, yesterday, we were looking through some papers that Brian brought home from school. One of them was a creating writing assignment. He was given the prompt "Just as everyone sat down to the Thanksgiving table, the turkey. . ." and he was supposed to finish. Here is is final version.

It says, "Just as everyone sat down to the Thanksgiving table the turkey was eaten." I guess even in his writing, he doesn't like unexpected things happening.

Anyways, it was a great Thanksgiving and we truly do have a lot to be thankful for. We missed spending the day with our friends and family, but we were thinking of all of you and we hope that you had a wonderful holiday too.
