Snow Week

We woke up last Sunday to a light dusting of snow. It did make it a little tricky to get to our stake conference, but luckily, we were able to have Brian's baptism while everyone was here (obviously since I already posted about that). On Monday, we got even more snow and it continued through most of the week. School was cancelled all week so we had to find ways to keep busy around here.

Grandma and Grandpa Johnson helped the boys build a snowman before they flew home on Monday.

On Tuesday, we played in the snow some more with one of Brian's friends and his little sister. We took the snowman that Grandma and Grandpa built and made it even bigger.
On Wednesday, the temperature dropped and the wind started blowing so we had to find things to do inside. We played board games, Wii games, watched movies, read books, made messes (and even cleaned a bit), and (my favorite) slept in and took naps.

I tried doing an impromptu photoshoot with Natalie. I tried to sit her in the rocking chair, but she decided to show off her walking skills instead. So then I gave her toys. I couldn't get her to look at me, but at least she stayed put.

In my opinion, when the weather gets cold, you just have to do some baking. So Matthew helped Eric make some brownies. They turned out really good.

I've been thinking lately about the fact that I need to actually be IN pictures from time to time. In the back of my mind, I've been planning to do it on that perfect day when I have my hair and makeup done, the house is clean, we're all dressed in coordinating outfits. Yesterday, I decided that if I kept waiting for the perfect chance, it would never happen. So, I dug out my tripod and grabbed the boys to experiment with the self-timer function on my camera. There was some trial and error. . .. . . but eventually I ended up with some that while they certainly aren't perfect, I don't hate.
On Friday afternoon, the snow turned to rain and it's nearly all melted now. I had a fun week at home with the boys, but I think we're all ready for things to get back to normal.

Also, don't forget to keep voting for Natalie in the Bellingham Herald's contest (see two posts down). I know it's a pain having to register and sign in, but you only have to do it once.
